What does ping actually mean for gameplay?
In Minecraft, the server runs at 20 TPS (ticks per second). Each tick is 50ms. Your ping is on top of that. So a player with 80ms ping experiences a tick + 80ms of round-trip β that's rubber-banding on fast movement and inconsistent hit registration on PvP.
The rule of thumb: pick the region your most players are closest to. Use the median pings above as a guide. If your friends are split across continents, US-East is the most central for US+EU mixes.

Region migrations are done from the panel. Your world data copies across to the new node. Usually takes under 5 minutes depending on world size. No rebuild required.
